child theme?

Can you give me some quick guidelines on how to use the child theme to add custom code instead of core your theme.

On another thread you said:

“I highly recommend you add the custom code to the child theme. Please don’t edit anything in our core theme”

I’d like to do all the steps necessary to correct this on my side now that side is up, thank you

Hi Ana,

The child theme included in package you download from Envato.

You can install in Appearance > Themes > Add new (like you install core theme)

The custom code you can add in style.css

Tks Harry. So if I am going to start a fresh installation from theme – which I am – do i install the zip of your Gecko general file or of your child theme?

Hi Ana,

The child theme is extend from core theme, you still need core theme on theme folder. The child theme to help you add your customize code. In future when you update core theme, your customize code on child theme still prevent.
