What is the best way to link to a category from menu item, and show only the subcategories in sidebar widget?
I would like to have separate shop pages for each of a few major categories. Right now I have two categories, “Skin Care” and “Makeup,” with possibly one or two more in future. See Shop menu item at http://amberskincareboutique.com/. If possible, I would like the sidebar widget to contain only the subcategories of the major category in menu
I duplicated the shop page, then renamed those pages after each major category.
My first stop was the Categories in the Menu options section. But the selection does not include the categories I created. Is there a category URL? Perhaps use a search URL? But what is format?
Any other ideas to do this?

Hi,
1. Please follow this video to add categories as menu https://youtu.be/cdkCSls-9s4
2. Please go to JanStudio > Theme Option > WooCommerce > Product Listing Setting > Select Layout with left sidebar > Choose WooCommerce Sidebar http://take.ms/b3Wek
After that go to Appearance > Widgets > Add widget “Product Categories” and check in “Only show children of the current category” http://take.ms/Dt1aQ
Best regards

Thanks – I mistakenly assumed the WP Categories were the Product Categories.
There is still an issue. The result still shows all categories in the sidebar, albiet the menu item category is highlighted in the list (along with the child categories). When viewing http://amberskincareboutique.com/product-category/skin-care/ I was hoping to just see list of Skin Care sub categories. Is this possible or is there a better way, in general to get the same functions?
I would like a sidebar for each category listed in Menu (there will be 3 or 4 when site is complete). Its subcategories will be the categories as listed in default sidebar. The Theme Option does not seem to accomodate that

OK — I see how your approach is displaying. You are showing the (sub)categories in the grid layout above the product list. Its not what I am looking for right now. I would like to see each of those grid items replaced with merely a list in its own sidebar. Similar to the default Shop page like this: http://amberskincareboutique.com/shop/. Instead, I am trying to create a side bar for each major Category, instead of a single “PRODUCT CATEGORIES”
At the moment, the “major categories” are SKIN CARE and MAKEUP

Hi,
Please uncheck in “Show Hierarchy” to display only subcategories on sidebar

Thanks, that did it. I also set Category Display Type to Products and that removed the grid with pic placeholders

One more thing!
I notice there is no way to created collapsible categories. Do you know of any (free) plugin that would be compatible with your theme. I didn’t want to install just any one
