My website is very slow

Hi there,

My website using your theme is very slow.  I’ve ran W3 Total Cache and optimised the site and can’t find the problem so thinking it must be the theme? Please help.

Hi Lucy,

Did you try to install and activate default WooCommerce theme? It’s Storefront. Because web speed depends on your hosting or server up to 80%.

Hi there,

Sorry for the delayed response – I spoke to my host and optimised WordPress under their instruction (e.g. limiting drafts, etc.). However, as you can see from the attached test from GTMetrix, it still has a really slow page load, largely due to not serving any scaled images. There is only one place to upload the product image so the thumbnails are being manually resized from the product image on every page load. Is there any way to solve this? Do you have any other further suggestions?

I don’t really understand what you mean about Storefront? I’m using the Gecko theme.

Hi Lucy,

1. I checked your site and see the original images for product so heavy. You should crop the image about (1200*1200px) and optimize the images before upload.

2. Please go to WooCommerce > Settings > Products > Display > Product images and change dimension to

– Catalog image: 370×370
– Single image: 690 x 690
– Thumbnail image: 160 x 160

After that go to Tools > Regenerate Thumbnail

3. For “Storefront” theme we mean you install new theme name “Storefront” this theme created by WooCommerce team and check speed of your site when activate this theme and compare speed when you run your site with our theme Gecko.
