WooCommerce Variation Swatch Plugin Slows Down the Website

Hi there,

WooCommerce Variation Swatch – this plugin from your theme slows down the website a lot. With the plugin, site loads about 10s, without this plugin, site loads less than 3s. Please advise and help us fix this ASAP.

If there is an alternative plugin with the same function we can use without slowing down the site, please let us know.

Hi,

The issue because your product catalog thumbnail size bigger, when you enable show swatch on list in WpAddons > Variation Swatch. It load more thumbnail images.

You can reduce size of product image in Appearance > Customize > WooCommerce > Product Image > Change “Thumbnail width” to 270 to reduce thumbnail site and turn off show swatch on list in WpAddons > Variation Swatch to improve speed.

Thank you. Load time has reduced to about 3-4 s.

However, we love the option to show different colour swatches on the shop page, turning it off is definitely a loss to us in terms of website functionality and customer experience. Any other option to reduce load time without turning off the swatches on shop page?

Have another way is upgrade hosting package and use CDN (CloudFlare, MaxCDN)

Hi,

We just upgrade our hosting package which showed significant improvement on speed on our site. However, as per the suggestion from our hosting company support team, they mentioned that “WooCommerce Variation Swatch” is the plugin which slows down the speed. However, after applying your suggestion about the thumbnail size swatches and turning off show the swatches on our shop page, the speed has significantly improved. But we really love the feature of showing the swatches on the shop page, yet if we keep it on, website is slow – any reason WHY? Not exactly understand why it’s slow when it’s on and loading time is good when it’s off. We’d want to keep this feature without slowing down the site.

The speed down when you enable swatch on listing page because it load all the images of color to show when you click on color of swatch. Did you try use CDN?

Yes. We use CloudFlare. I have also optimized the image size of the swatches to be as small as possible. Any other method we can try?
