Displaying 'subcategories' on the main site

I have a problem with my template.

I’m using one of the demos of Gecko template and I’d like to change the way on a pic. I’d just want to have categories of my shop visible from the beggining, by default.

Haven’t found any way or plugin to fix the issue.
