You mean you want to make the layout the same our home page 07? On home page 7, it’s not carousel, just clarity.

1. Yes it’s hardcode, but you can change it via Child theme with this code

2. If you want to user other layout on home page, please navigate to WordPress settings / Reading / Front page

The image size depends on your original image size and ratio, we highly recommend you use the image with the same ratio. You will never have the issue like this. You can send us some product images, we will make a sample size for you.
